History
As you turn down the drive to Thomley Barn you immediately become aware not only of the peacefulness and beauty of the rural setting but also of entering an area which has a fascinating history. The Manor of Thomley is recorded in the Domesday Book, but it is clear from pottery and other finds that it has been inhabited since Saxon, Roman and even Iron Age times (500bc). Thomley Barn, an ancient field barn complex, stands between the ancient Roman and Saxon sites. The whole locality is, in fact, a designated archaeological site.

This beautiful building has now been imaginatively restored and as well as providing a home for Soundabout, a national Charity working in the field of music and disability, it can be hired out and enjoyed as an inspirational setting for conferences and events.

A view of Thomley Barn today, showing the ancient meadows, beautiful in all seasons.
